Bernhard Brungs

Bernhard Brungs’ (b. 1974, Bielefeld, Germany) portraits of cultural and intellectual icons focus on the “details, with the overall shape emerging slowly and unexpectedly.” The artist’s many muses include Susan Sontag, Virginia Woolf, Jean Genet, and Yves Saint Laurent. Extensively exhibited, Brungs has had solo exhibitions at Dittrich & Schlechtriem (Berlin), Produzentengalerie (Hamburg), Galerie Haas AG (Zurich), and Tomio Koyama Gallery (Tokyo). In 2014, he was featured in the two-person exhibition, Muse, with Slawomir Eisner at CCA Andratx (Spain). He currently lives and works in Berlin.
