Sue Williams

Sue Williams (b.1954, Chicago, IL) came to prominence in the early 1980’s with works that reacted to the dominant postmodern feminist aesthetic of the time. In the years since, her aesthetic interests and subject matters have shifted toward abstraction. She has had solo shows at the Vienna Secession, 303 Gallery (New York), Geneva Center for Contemporary Art, Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden (Germany), and James Cohen Gallery (Shanghai). Williams was included in 3 consecutive Whitney Biennials, as well a 2013 group show with Richard Prince, Doug Aitken, and Eva Rothschild. She lives and works in New York.
